This Gift Called Grace

"...to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves." - Ephesians 2:6

We are loved. One of the keys to living a prosperous and enriched life is to tap into the love the God has for us. If we can get a glimpse of his love, we would soon understand how to our own self worth and how we should love others.

God loves us so much that he graced us to be close to him. This gift of grace is an unmerited, unearned favor. Despite our failings, bad decisions, mistakes, flaws, and mishaps, God's thoughts and opinion about us does not change. It is this same grace that he encourages us to bestow upon others. Grace is based in forgiveness. If you can come to accept the grace that God has given in your life, then you must take a hard look at how much more grace you can give to the people in your life who have wronged you or hurt you.

Our refusal to walk in grace impedes our chance to fully receive the grace God has given us. How can we walk in the fullness of Christ if we are still ensnared by the bonds of un-forgiveness. For every person that you still conceal anger and hurt is another chain around your wrist, ankle and waist. Let it go. Whatever was done or said to you should not be able to keep you in bondage any longer. This does not mean that you forge onto forget. In fact according to Romans 8:28 it states, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Our hurts and deepest pains are a part of our testimony. Don't forget, a huge part of having is an authentic testimony is passing the "test." It starts with forgiveness which partners with grace.

The concept that we can actually receive something that we don't deserve is almost too good to be true. That is the power of our God. His hands are extended for us. If we listen carefully and grab on we will find ourselves extending our hands to others. This holiday season, don't just think about the material gifts you can give someone. More than new clothes, games, electronics, etc. Often, all your friends and family needs is your gift of grace and love. Merry Christmas.
