A New Year, A New Opportunity

"The Lord says, “Forget what happened before, and do not think about the past. Look at the new thing I am going to do. It is already happening. Don’t you see it? I will make a road in the desert and rivers in the dry land." - Isaiah 43:18-19

As we reflect on this past year and look forward to the new year ahead it's important to be reminded of the power of walking into the new year free and uninhibited by the weight of the past. Sometimes, we are hindered from walking forward with our dreams or opening ourselves up to new experiences because we hold on to the familiarity of past failures and successes.

God is ready to do a new thing in your life.  What happened yesterday is not his concern and if we can manage, it should not be ours. Of course there are consequences for our actions in the past and for some of us, we have to live with those consequences everyday. Just because we have to face the remnants of our past mistakes and failures does not mean we have to allow it to dominate our lives. In the same token, we should treat our past success in the same manner. It's great to celebrate our success  but we must take care not to allow our success to limit us from thinking there is not more that God is willing and ready to do. Step outside of your box and dare to hope for new opportunities. This is something that we can carry with us beyond the confines of a new year but should be our daily attitude.

The opening scripture of this blog admonishes us to forget the former things. It's running theme encourages us to let go. Let go of the failed relationship, job, goals, etc. We can celebrate but should not dwell on the successes we have had. When we remove the weight of the past we open ourselves up for growth. The coming year and even today can be different for you if you dare to open yourself up to God and change your perspective.  Happy New Year! This is your chance for a new opportunity.
