The Open Door

"Elijah obeyed God's orders. He went and camped in the Kerith canyon on the other side of the Jordan. And sure enough, ravens brought him his meals, both breakfast and supper, and he drank from the brook. Eventually the brood dried up because of the drought..." I Kings 17:5-7

As believers our obedience is key to serving God and receiving all he has for us in this world. No matter how long you have been saved there will be a time in your Christian walk where trouble will proceed your obedience to God's direction.

In the passage above, all Elijah did was obey God. His obedience led him to a place where he ran out of resources to take care of his basic needs. I have learned that these moments are not a time to blame God or harbor anger but are an opportunity to grow more intimately with God.

I have found myself at the end of my rope. In certain moments there was nothing else "I" could physically do to change the situation. What do you do when you come to the end of yourself? Where can you go when you need God to open a door in your life? You may need God to open the door of: healing, prosperity, joy, peace, financial blessing, further direction, etc. In these painful situations it is time to turn to God's word. There is a second set of directions you must get from God in order to understand  where to go next. You keep knocking on the door. It will be opened for you (Matthew 7:7).

When the brook dried up, Elijah got a second set of directions from God. By faith he obeyed and was fed better than before. More importantly, God sent him to be of service to others (I Kings 17: 10-24). Jesus Christ is the only one that can get you through it. The quicker you stop trying to make things happen on your own, the faster His will can be done in your life. Your struggle is not about you. It is about the help God is trying to get to other people. God will take care of you and meet the desires of your heart (Matthew 6:33).

In this season of your life determine within yourself to seek God with all that you have. He will answer your prayer and direct you. Once you receive direction, it will be your words and faith that establish your arrival to the next destination. In Job 22:27-28 (MSG), it reads, "You’ll pray to him and he’ll listen; he’ll help you do what you’ve promised. You’ll decide what you want and it will happen; your life will be bathed in light."

It is up to you to speak to that door. God will move according to your faith and belief. Wrap your mind and words around the fact that is love is so great for you. It is God's desire to see you thrive in life.
You can't earn it. His grace is given because of his love for you. You don't have to be perfect and wait to get your life "right." Just believe. Your bold faith will inspire God's action.
