Heartbreak is one of the most painful experiences in life. It's a pain so great that all you want to do is run and hide under a rock. You may find yourself sleeping a lot more, disregarding your outward appearance, and closing yourself off to never trust again. We all find a way to cope with pain. Be sure to examine how you deal with your hurt. Where can you go with a broken heart?
While starting over may seem insurmountable, all is not lost. First, you must find the courage to face your pain head on. It is in our brokenness that God can be made strong in us (I Corinthians 12:9). When we bring God our heart in pieces it is a chance for Him to repair what has been lost and exchange it for a brand new beginning. It's ok to be speechless. Even if you just come with your grief and tears God welcomes you. He can interpret your sorrow. There are two ways you can look at your brokenness. You can either allow it to destroy you or you can allow it to be a teaching tool God can use.
There is no greater place to go with brokenness than to God. Though it may be challenging, the best keeper of hearts is waiting with arms open to help put the pieces of your heart back together. No matter what anyone has said or done to you or if you did it to yourself, there is one universal truth that you can dare to believe in. God loves you unconditionally. Nothing you can ever do will change that (John 10:10).
I've come to God in pieces. I've laid at his feet in prayer with nothing but tears to speak my pain. In that moment, God had me where he wanted me. He used my pain to impart a deeper level of faith in me. I walked away from my brokenness more determined to follow Him than ever before. Your heart break and pain are worth the effort to trust Him. You are not alone and there is a place you can bring your heart break. It takes courage but you can start than with God.
