Live for God: Make it a Lifestyle

"Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you. he will make your innocence radiate like the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun." -Psalm 37:5-6

The first core value for Witness is Live for God. Simply, living for God is to make it a part of your lifestyle. In today's fast paced world there are several ways to incorporate your relationship with God and make Him priority. Sometimes there is so much going on with family, careers, school, etc that the day can just slip by. I know I have had my days where I wake up bright and early and get slammed by the tasks of the day. By the time I look up, it's 11:00pm at night and I have not yet read my bible or made time to pray. When we look at our lives, the first thing we must realize is there is not a perfect recipe and it's not always going to look pretty.

What's wonderful for us is that God is not looking for us to be perfect. He desires a heart that is willing. Living for God starts with us first understanding his love for us. He gave his very son, Jesus Christ, for our sins. No matter what our issues, flaws, and challenges may be God's love for us is unconditional and will remain. As a result, we must learn God's love and apply it to the love we should have for ourselves. God loves us through our flaws, it does not make much sense for us to beat ourselves up over our imperfections. When we learn to love ourselves, it is easier to look at the flaws and challenges of other people and love them as well. This does not mean become a door mat but we can come to a place where we hold people accountable and sincerely pray for them.

In loving God, ourselves, and other people, we can then move toward committing everything we do to God. As stated in the verse above, God will make the justice of your cause shine, when you choose his will above your own. God's love for you will align with the pure desires of your heart.  He only asks that you trust him with all things including your family, career goals, friends, school, and even your social life. In order for God to be Lord of your life, you must give over your life to Him. Drawing closer to God comes, not only through understanding his love but in prayer and reading his word - the Bible. Trust me, Living for God is the best decision I have ever made and will be for your as well. Who knows the painting better than the painter?
